Well I am glad that after so many days i had time to update my blog. Things hav been very busy nowadays since 40 day seva/sadhana started. Nowadays I haven't been doing bucket seva because they are draining the sarovar for some reason. So now to fill the buckets you need to stand on a little bar and fill it up, which is really dangerous. I have been doing parshad seva now instead. If you are wondering what I mean about parshad seva, its when I carry the parshad in the Golden Temple. Seva is a beautiful thing because when you see how devoted the sevadars are, you, yourself get devoted to doing it. I have been doing loads of gatka nowadays and yesterday I learnt how to do the Lathi. The Lathi are sticks that are as tall as you and when you swing they go above your head and hit the opponents stick. It quite fun you know. Well kick-in time is close so i better get going.

I finally made it to M.P.A! I am really happy with my decision, more happy than I expected it to be. Last night we had a skit competition and our house won. I was a Chinese guy."I wonder why?". Ha ha and it was really fun. Guru Raj won the best intermediate actor because he exaggerated really good on one part and Akeen won the best senior actor. He did a pretty good job with chameleon man.Right now I'm waiting for my parents to send me my football gear I'm going to take the measurements today if I'm not jumping over bushes. The story with jumping over bushes was that Guru Raj and Dev Amrit jumped a half-cutten bush so I tried to do it and while I was in mid-air my foot got stuck in the wire and i stop jumping in mid-air. Then I laugh to hard to pull myself together. For some reason people find it amusing that I am from Nevada. I don't see why it so amusing. Well I'll get going now and i"ll keep on re posting!

Today we took my sister running. My dad said that she would beat me by a mile but she could'nt even walk a mile! Today I tried to see how ahead I could go on my new fast pace. I ran till my home and I did it! Once I reached home, I thought my dad would scream at me and say "Amitoj, Main tonu kini vari bolya ki mere ton aage nahin jaon!", but he just said "Good Job Son!'. I was really surprised today.
Tommorrow I'm not going to update beacuse I have to go to my Aunt's paath and party tommorow so I am trying to type more. Today I also tried to practice dirt riding on my bike so once I buy my dirtbike I will be ready. Well thats all for today, Sat Sri Akal, And Once Again, Happy Gurupuruab

SSA! I am sorry that I couldn't put up the pictures. I couldn't put up the pictures because my blogger picture loader is slow. I was wondering who was the anonymous commenter. I asked my dad if he did it but he said no, I still have my doubts........ . Today we didn't go running at all ughhhhhhh! I ran around the house because I wanted to go running. Instead of running we biked. Now after biking I have named my sister "Bebe Junior Punjabi Truck Driver". I named her that because today while I was going down-hill, my sister was on the right side and I was zooming down on the left side. Suddenly, The amazing Avneet merges to the left while I am going over 40 miles on my bike! Somehow I managed to get through Avneet and Dad and saved the day from would've but didn't day. Well that's all for today I'll post more tomorrow

SSA! I am just about to go running! Yesterday it was the first day of school. I knew alot of people because alot of them were on my soccer team or they went to soccer camp. I made alot of friends while my sister made two and a half friends(Avneets language!). Our neighbours Simran and Ankeet also go to the same school. This weekend we had also went to monterey for 3 days. We stayed in the Seabreeze inn for 1 hour and then our family did'nt like it so we stayed in Embassy Suites. It was great! I had got loads of sea shells from the beach in Monterey. NOw i only get limited time to play outside because of school! Oh Oh gotta go for running! Bye! I will update soon!

Ssa! Sorry I could'nt be up to date with my blog. We have bought a new house in Curti ranch in the Virginia City Highlands. We have sold our store Citi Mart and we might be moving to Texas, New mexico, or Canada. I started to run nowdays atleast 3 miles a day. I was really gaining weight really fast so one day my dad said "Come on!" "Lets Run!". I still used to play outside everyday on my bike. My dad is trying to learn how to roller skate. Nowdays I skate more than I ride my bike! There has been a big wild fire around our area it made the mountains all black. I had also got a debit card as my buddy Shan did too. I had also got a job promotion at my dad's store! I used to fill up the cooler, sweep outside the store etc.. Now I work at the cash register. I finally have a game system(P.S.2) I only have to gmaes on it. i only play once a while(not to much). Well I guess thats all that happened in the past few weeks so SSA!

Today is my lucky day. I got a free Limited Edition Giants Baseball. One of the nice customers Dennis gave me the baseball. I'll take a picture and post it. I'm sorry I'm not updating my blog so often I'll try to update it more often. I've been really sick for the past few days. I was supposed to go to my friends house for a sleep-over but because I was so sick I coud'nt go and this time we were going to go to a coll waterpark. Now I'm Ok and I'm ready and desperate to go out. Well today I saw Horse-Racing on T.V. the whole racing thing was abot Barbaro (The Wonder Horse). Everyone was encouraging Barbaro to get well. SSA everybody I am back home. I am still tired from the long journey. I still have jetlag. I had a fever of 104.0 the day before yesterday. I also had strep and a really bad cough.I still have some of it.

Wheew! I finally got the Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa marquee to work! Well I'm at my dad's store and I'm just passing time. The last time I tried to make the marquee work on the top was yesterday. I tried about 12 times. And on my last vacation I tried for 2 hrs.

KIDAAAHHH!! I am fine. I'm now a day boarder in my school. I'll be coming back soon in the U.S. Today was a pretty exciting day. I galloped the horse at its top speed and I almost fell down. It was racing and I had cme first. Unfortunately my friend Zorrower had fell down due to a buck. Lots of people falling down in my school nowdays from horses. Mostly the new kids because the don't know a thing of horse riding. I had read the daily speech at assembly yesterday. Every teacher had smiled but I don't know why. I had also read my sisterine's comment. It had a spelling mistake in it. Well I'll see everyone soon.

Ssa. I am at my Dads store Citi Mart. I thought i would just update the blog a little bit. Well happy Lohri Everyone! I made a link for Lohri. I hope you guys like it. I made a blog for my school. Its adress is www.hillgranger.blogspot.com. Nobody knows about it now. I'm trying to surprise my principal with the blog. I'm thinking of developing it really nice and, I'll make links to all the upcoming events by making a cyber calendar. I can already hear my Dad saying "Amitoj,Sister Nu Tung Nahi Karo, Choti Hai". Yesterday I got a prank set and played jokes on her and her annoying evil aliens(her friends) and scare them to death!! I played jokes on middle schoolers and high schoolers too. I scared them in their own joke!! They were trying to scare an innocent pair of 6th Graders but when they were approaching the 6th graders, I blew a fart whistle and embarassed and scared them to death!! I was just watching Guruka Singhs videos and I just felt relief! Because I know that it's kind of hard being a Sikh in America. Its hard trying to fit in with the groups of people. I was at the mall last week and people were passing by me and just, you know, yelling. I can't relax knowing that people are yelling at you. There had been lots of racist acts have seen here. One time well, these people were stupid anyway so, what happend is, I was at a restaurant and I entered, one of the couples were just staring at us. After some time we order food and while we were waiting,them comes up and says "Stop banging The seat!". I was really ticked off you know because I don't sit like a hunchback and then he starts to say mean stuff against us. My mom is a fighter she does not toleate any ignorance. So I was scared to death because is my first time expierencing rascism. Well thats all for today I'll post more Bye!!!

I am sorry that I have not been updating my blog. I have been learning javascript on Html Goodies. It teaches everything you need to know. I would recommend it very much for beginners. That is how I have learnt. It had been snowing and flooding here in Reno. I was sad when the snow stopped because, the day it started to snow, we bought a new sled. It is SUPER COOL. Then the next day the snow melted till the last piece of the snowman. Surprisingly it flooded in Reno. We have a creek near our house and it was all full up with plain rain water. My dad and I went to walk near the creek. It was like a 40 ft. swimming pool. I threw rocks to measure the length, I threw one huge rock into the river (creek) and it splashed water till my joora!! It has been finalized that I will go to The Doon School or Miri Piri. I’m going for Doon School but if I don’t like it, I might go to Miri Piri. My mom wants me to go to Doon School but, I might choose Miri Piri.
Well I’ll post some more today and I’ll update tomorrow too.

Sikhs in Arizona serve Langar at huge Interfaith Gathering

Phoenix, Arizona“Oh! What a beautiful treat? What an amazing religious tradition of the Sikh faith? Never heard of such a religion that serves food to all and at every religious service. What a concept of sharing and equality? Thank you! our Sikh brothers and sisters” These were the different voices heard all over from those who came to share Langar at Heritage square in downtown Phoenix after Sikh community of Phoenix, Arizona took a lead from the Sikhs of England.
About one and half years ago, Sikhs from England set a unique example of the Sikh tradition of Langar at World religious conference in Barcelona, Spain. Thousands and thousands of people who attended that event were continuously served Langar or the Free Kitchen for two to three days by the Sikhs of England under the banner of Nishkaam Seva Jetha of England. Some of the members of Interfaith Movement from Phoenix belonging to other faiths had attended that event at Barcelona in the past and had been fascinated by it. When a similar kind of event was planned in downtown Phoenix on November 17th, the Sikh Community took the lead and came forward to serve Langar to the entire gathering. It was felt by many Sikh residents that this will be another unique opportunity to show off our unique Sikh identity through this noble Sikh tradition. This became further important for Arizona in the past had already earned the dubious distinction of being first in losing one of its Sikh residents in hate crime immediately after 9-11. Additionally, in this week the Sikhs all over the world were celebrating Prakash Utsav (Birthday) of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of the Sikh faith, who had initiated this unique concept for Sikhs to follow.The Lungar or “The Free Community Kitchen” as many in the west would often call it, is one of the fundamental and most important religious traditions of the Sikh faith the like of which is found in no other faith. Historically this tradition of the Langar (Free Kitchen) or Temple of bread was started by Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh faith. “He advised that all Sikhs must share “Vand Chhaknna” their food with others. Later on, this tradition took upon the form of an institution. Every Sikhs was expected to either contribute in the form of donating food or help in preparation or in the service. Guru Angad, the second Guru of the Sikhs further expanded it and personally volunteered in serving it. Mata Khivi, His wife would often look after the pilgrims who will come from all over the country to visit with Guru Ji and supervise preparation of the Langar. The kitchen will stay open from early morning to late evening so that each and every one who wished could come and join in, In fact the visit with Guru would always require to first join in a Pangat or line to have Langar before one could join into the Sangat or congregation. Food first and congregation next- ‘Pahle Pangat Pachhey Sangat’Guru Amar Dass, the third Guru of the Sikh formalized this tradition and put it on firm footing. Even Akbar, the then Emperor of India and Raja of Haripur were asked to sit on the floor with common people and take meals with them before an audience with the Guru. (Sikhpoint) Guru Ramdas the 4th Guru of the Sikhs furthered it by serving water and meals to travelers. Similarly 5th Guru of the Sikhs and his wife also personally served the Sangat. Traditionally in a Langar, all persons are asked to share food sitting in line touching one another regardless of the societal status and richness. This was to undo the harm that was being done to Indian Society as a result of despicable division. On the evening of November 17th, a group of about 50 Sikhs assembled in Heritage Square in downtown Phoenix to serve Langar to a huge expected gathering of Interfaith Movement in a unique and grand way. Fresh hot vegetarian full dinner was prepared couple of hours earlier. As soon as the members belonging to other faiths started arriving they were asked to take their shoes off. A separate area was earmarked where Sikh women volunteers and children bagged their shoes and kept them. Rows of long pieces of carpet were already spread down on the floor where visitors were respectfully asked to sit in Pangats touching one another. The langar was then served by Sikh Volunteers in exactly the way it is done in a Gurdwara. From 500 to 700 people were served Guru Ka Langar that had been sanctified with Ardas before hand. A slide presentation highlighting the history, significance and pictures of Langar service in Gurdwaras was continuously projected upon a huge screen visible to every body while they were enjoying Langar. Simultaneous Kirtan, the singing of Gurbani was continuously played in the background.The entire gathering was fascinated by this unique tradition of the Sikhs that not only serves free food but also breaks the barrier of caste system and rejects the difference between high and low. In fact the citizens of the valley and interfaith group could not believe as to how such a small community could pull their resources together and show their generosity for giving and serving selflessly. This effort of local Sikh community will go a long way in dispelling ignorance about Sikhs and their identity while letting the rest of the world know about their incomparable religious tradition.

Police: 7-year-old at wheel after hit-and-run

FLEMINGSBURG, Kentucky (AP) -- Police got a surprise when they stopped a van following a hit-and-run crash on Kentucky's Mountain Parkway: A 7-year-old boy was at the wheel, sitting on his father's lap.
Donald Everett Waters, 39, of Flemingsburg, faces two felony counts of wanton endangerment and numerous other charges following the Friday afternoon incident.
When police caught up with the van on Interstate 64, Waters was working the foot pedals and his son Cody was on his lap steering, Clark County Sheriff's Deputy Ricky Estes said. He described Waters as "semiconscious."
"He said he was en route to Florida, and his son was going to get him there," Estes said.
Waters' 3-year-old son was also in the van, Estes said. He said it appeared Waters had been living out of the vehicle.
The children were taken by social services. Waters, meanwhile, faces several charges, including resisting arrest, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence

Paris, France-The French High Court, the Conseil d'Etat, ruled today that a French Sikh has a right to wear his Turban for his driver's licence photo. The court ordered that Shingara Singh Mann be given his driver's licence within a month.

The court said that the administration could not rely on a 1999 Order of the Interior Ministry to refuse a licence as it was outside the authority of that Ministry to regulate the issuing of driver's licence. It went on to say that the Transport Ministry has authority to make rules on the documentation required for a drivers licence. However, there is no requirement in the 1999 Order of the Transport Ministry that requires one's head to be bare for a driver's licence photograph.

"The High Court today has effectively suspended an earlier decision of the Administrative Court which had ruled, after an injunctive hearing, that the Administration had acted legally for requiring Shingara Singh to remove his Turban for his Driver's licence photo," said Francois Jacquot, a French lawyer engaged by UNITED SIKHS and the French Action Committee for the Sikh Turban.

"Today's High Court decision is significant as Shingara Singh will have his driver's licence soon without having to wait for the outcome of the substantive case in the Administrative Court," he added.

Mr Jacquot said that whilst the High Court's decision does not bind the Administrative Court, today's decision will have an impact on the lower court as a question of law has been decided. The decision of the High Court only affects the wearing of a Turban for a driver's licence, Mr Jacquot explained.

"I am very pleased that the French judiciary acted robustly in not allowing the French Turban ban law in schools to be extended into other areas by over-zealous administrators," said Kudrat Singh, director of the UNITED SIKHS chapter in France.

"UNITED SIKHS took up Shingara Singh's case as it affected a Sikh's right to practise his religion and it affected the future of Sikhs in France. We have worked on this case against all odds and we thank the Sikh community for its support," he added.

"I am very pleased with the outcome as a Sikh's right to practise his religion has been upheld and the integrity of the Sikh community has been preserved," said Shingara Singh, who is also a director of UNITED SIKHS.

Comedian Richard Pryor dies at 65

CNN) -- Just days after his 65th birthday, groundbreaking comedian Richard Pryor died Saturday of a heart attack, his wife told CNN.
Pryor, who had been ill with multiple sclerosis, died at Encino Hospital near Los Angeles at 7:58 a.m. PT. Jennifer Lee Pryor tried to revive him at their home before paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital, she said.
"He enjoyed life right up until the end," she said, adding that Pryor had been laughing a lot and was in good spirits in the two weeks preceding his death. "At the end, there was a smile on his face."

Born Richard Franklin Lennox Thomas Pryor in Peoria, Illinois, on December 1, 1940, the funnyman had long suffered from health problems at the time of his death. In addition to his multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 1986, he suffered a massive heart attack and underwent triple-bypass surgery in 1990. (Watch Larry King interview Pryor -- 3:36)
Pryor was known for his raunchy stand-up comedy and a variety of acting roles, including in "Superman III," "The Toy" and "Harlem Nights," in which he starred with his comedic predecessor, Redd Foxx, and his heir apparent, Eddie Murphy. (Pryor's filmography)
Though Pryor was known as a comic, Oscar-nominated director Spike Lee said he also was capable of serious roles, such as in 1972's "Lady Sings the Blues," a movie that earned five Academy Award nominations. (Watch the serious side of Pryor -- 2:25)
Lee also noted that it was Pryor who gave several entertainers license to inject social commentary into their comedy, acting or art. Lee, best known for his socially charged "Do the Right Thing," said he was "definitely" one of those entertainers.
"For me, Richard was a great. He was an innovator. He was a trailblazer, and the way he showed social commentary in his humor opened up a universe for other comics to follow in his footsteps," Lee said.
Pryor was arguably the biggest name in stand-up comedy during the 1970s, earning Grammy Awards for his comedy albums.
In addition to appearances in almost 40 films, Pryor also was part of the team that created the script for the Mel Brooks comedy, "Blazing Saddles."
He also directed himself in a semi-autobiographical film, "Jo Jo Dancer Your Life is Calling," in the mid-1980s, a film he says refused to be written as a comedy.
But despite his achievements on the screen and on stage, Pryor is often remembered for seriously burning over half his body while freebasing cocaine -- an incident he later dubbed a suicide attempt.
Even that made its way into his comedy, which his wife said was a common theme in his life -- being able to turn crisis into comedy -- and one that scored big with audiences at his stand-up shows.
As his disease became more and more debilitating, Pryor refused to abandon his career. He continued to do stand-up -- sitting down. Many have called it remarkable that he was so determined to keep performing despite his illness.
One is director Martin Scorsese, who said Pryor's resilience was inspiring.
"It's a very savage kind of humor, it comes out of a great deal of pain," Scorsese said.
Jennifer Lee Pryor said her husband inspired many people by being candid about his own strife.
"He was able to turn pain into comedy," she said. "He let the world see it, and that was his inspiration, too.
"People said, 'If he can do it, I can do it.' "
Pryor was married seven times to five different women and has seven children, Renee, Richard Jr., Elizabeth, Stephen Michael, Kelsey, Franklin and Rain.

French Government Issues Circular to Ban Turban for Driver’s License Photograph

The French Government issued a circular yesterday effectively overturning a previous French High Court decision that said it was illegal to prevent a Sikh from wearing a turban for his driving license for his photograph.The Ministry of Transports, Equipments, Tourism and Seas have issued a circular through which they have now banned the wearing of turbans on driving licenses. Consequently, Shingara Singh Mann, the appellant of a case pending with the court, will not get his driving license within 30 days, as previously ruled by the High Court.On Monday, the French High Court ruled that the Ministry of Transport’s decision to disallow the wearing of the turban for driving license photographs was illegal since the Ministry had no rule in place to defend this. Consequently, it was deemed their decision to disallow Shingara Singh Mann’s turban-wearing picture on his driving license, was illegal. The Ministry of Transport promptly issued a Circular, which now allows them to not issue driving licenses to turban-wearing people unless the applicant removes his or her turban for the photograph.Mejindarpal Kaur, Director of United Sikhs Eu, stated: “The global Sikh community is shocked at the attitude of the French government. Passengers, witnesses describe terrifying landing

Skid kills one boy.

CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) -- People aboard Southwest Flight 1248 -- and witnesses on the ground -- described the harrowing moments before and after the jet ran off the runway Thursday night at Chicago's Midway International Airport, plowed into an intersection and killed a boy in a car.
In a news conference Friday, Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly said that it was the first fatal accident involving a Southwest flight in the discount carrier's 35-year history.
In addition to the boy's death, about a dozen people were injured and taken to hospitals, according to Southwest Airlines.
It had been snowing all day Thursday in Chicago. By early Thursday evening, about 8 inches of snow had fallen on the ground, and winds were blowing at between 13 mph and 18 mph, according to CNN meteorologist Chad Myers.
Onboard the plane arriving from Baltimore, Maryland, were 103 people -- 98 passengers and five crew members. It was scheduled to land shortly after 7 p.m. CT.
Passenger Mike Abate told CNN that visibility was "just horrible," saying, "You couldn't even see the city lights until literally the last 10 seconds before the landing."
The landing felt normal, he said, until he saw "the terminal to my right ... went by pretty quickly, and we were still at a pretty good clip. That's when I realized something wasn't going well."
Fellow passenger Stanley Den said, "It looked like the runway wasn't plowed at all. The runway looked just like grass. I couldn't really tell if we were on the runway or the grass.
"It was really bumpy," he added. "We were kind of going for a while until the impact -- when we hit maybe, I guess, a barrier fence, went through that and into the middle of the street with cars and stuff riding past us."
Midway airport lies in a dense residential and commercial district west of downtown.
A bartender at a nearby pub said he heard two loud booms when the plane crashed into the intersection of 55th Street and Central Avenue on the northwest side of the airport. (Watch footage from the scene -- 1:33)
"We thought it was an automobile accident, and we looked out the window and we saw the tail section of a Southwest airliner lying across the street," said Tom Fitzgerald, adding that he saw passengers exiting the rear of the plane.
"People were running, and ambulances were coming down the street."
Amanda Doherty, who lives near the airport, said she saw a car pinned under the airplane with its headlights still on. (Watch witness account -- :27)
Boy's family also injured
The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the boy killed in the wreck as Joshua Woods, 6, of Leroy, Indiana.
"It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of a child who was in one of the vehicles hit by the aircraft," said Kelly, the Southwest CEO. "The entire Southwest family is grieving this loss, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the child's family, friends and loved ones."
The boy's parents and two younger brothers were injured, according to Deborah Song, spokeswoman for Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oaklawn.
Their car was crushed under the plane's nose and fuselage, said Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. (Watch him describe victims and scene -- 2:22)
As of Thursday night, the mother, in her 30s, was in good condition; the father, in his 40s, was in serious condition; the couple's 4-year-old middle son was in fair condition; and an infant was in serious condition, Song said.
Song could not provide an update of the family's conditions Friday morning because the family requested no information be released to the media.
Four people in a second car, found under a wing of the Boeing 737-700 jet, were in serious but stable condition.
Plane was cleared to land
The jet remained in the intersection Friday morning as the investigation proceeded. Midway closed at 8:16 p.m. CT Thursday and reopened at 6 a.m. CT Friday.
The National Transportation Safety Board said Friday it could take up to a year to determine what caused the crash.
The flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder have been sent to NTSB headquarters in Washington and " will yield a plethora of information" for investigators, said NTSB member Ellen Engleman Conners.
Visibility was three-quarters of a mile at the time of the landing, and weather would obviously be a major factor under review, she added.
Earlier, Kelly estimated visibility to be a quarter-mile to a half-mile through heavy snow.
Chicago's acting commissioner of aviation, Pat Harney, said airport runways had been salted and cleared Thursday, but he said he didn't know when the runway where the jet landed was last serviced. (Problems with older runways)
"The aircraft was cleared for landing," Kelly said. "At this point, since it was cleared for landing, all we can do is assume that the runway was prepared for landing, but we don't have any specific info about the condition of the runway at this point."
The pilot of the jet has been with Southwest for 10 years, and the co-pilot about three years, Kelly said.
"This was the first flight of the day for both pilots," he said.
He added that there were no indications of maintenance problems with the plane, and that it underwent a routine check Wednesday in Phoenix, Arizona.
The accident occurred the same day as a deadly crash at Midway 33 years ago when a plane coming in for a landing struck several homes before plowing into one.
Forty-five people -- 43 passengers and two in the house -- were killed.

The new gurdwara at Umaidpur village, which has been built with major financial support from NRI couple Major Gurcharn Singh Jhaj, and his wife, Mrs Raminder Kaur.Sahnewal, December 4The newly-constructed gurdwara at Umaidpur village near Sahnewal was inaugurated after bhog of 'Sri Akhand Path' last Saturday. Built with financial support of over Rs 25 lakh from NRI couple Major Gurcharn Singh Jhaj and his wife, Mrs Raminder Kaur, the gurdwara with a big hall has been constructed adjacent to the old building which was built before Partition.
"Its a dream come true for me as I always wanted to give something back to my community and village," said Major Gurcharn Singh Jhaj, an engineering graduate from Birla Institute of Technology, Pilani. The former Army officer, who served in the EME till 1971, is now settled in Chicago, USA.
A congregation of the devout sat through the ceremony spread over several hours as wafts of 'Gurbani' to the accompaniment of devotional music from the tabla and harmonium added to the serenity.
Bhai Gurcharn Singh, hazoori ragi, Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, Bhai Sukhminder Singh from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Bhai Dilawar Singh from Tibba and the ragi jatha from Baru Sahib, Sirmour (Himachal Pradesh) performed kirtan which was followed by a 'dhadi darbar' featuring girls from Baru Sahib.
Highlighting the supreme sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadur through 'vaars' the young girls from Himachal delved deep into history to pick and propagate the message of Sikhism.
Baba Iqbal Singh, president of the Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib, who addressed the huge gathering, exhorted the Sikhs to follow the path shown by the great Gurus.
The congregation listened with rapt attention as Darbar Sahib hazoori ragi Bhai Gurcharn Singh recited " Bin Bhagaan Satsang Na Labhe …”, a shabad of the fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan Dev, enshrined in the holy Guru Granth Sahib.
Among those present on the occasion were Dr Khem Singh Gill, former Vice-Chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Mr Kirpal Singh, secretary, SGHUH Trust, Sidhwan Khurd, NRI Hardev Singh from England, Major Isher Singh, Mr MS Dhaliwal, Dr Bhupinder Singh, SGPC members, retired Army officers, and local leaders.
Residents of Umaidpur later presented siropas to the NRI couple. Siropas were also presented to the ragi jathas and others who had contributed towards the holy cause. Mr Santa Singh, a resident of Umaidpur, conducted the stage.
Compact discs of ‘shabads’ sung by prominent ragis were also distributed among the devotees. A cheque for $2500 was also presented by Major Gurcharn Singh Jhaj to Baba Iqbal Singh of Baru Sahib.
Guru Ka Langar was also served on the occasion.

MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- Witnesses aboard an American Airlines jetliner say that Rigoberto Alpizar's wife pursued him, saying he was mentally ill, just before federal marshals shot and killed him. Air marshals said Alpizar had announced he was carrying a bomb.
Later, no explosives were found. The Wednesday incident remains under investigation.
"She was chasing after him," said fellow passenger Alan Tirpak. "She was just saying her husband was sick, her husband was sick." When the woman returned, "she just kept saying the same thing over and over, and that's when we heard the shots."
Another passenger, Mary Gardner of Orlando, said she also overheard Alpizar's wife. "I heard her say, 'He's bipolar. He doesn't have his medicine,'" Gardner recalled. ( Passenger: 'Something going on wasn't right' -- 3:21)
Ellen Sutliff, who said she sat near Alpizar, described him as agitated, even before he boarded the plane. His wife kept coaxing him, "We just have to get through customs. Please, please help me get through this," according to Sutliff.
"We're going to be home soon, and everything will be all right," Sutliff quoted the wife as saying.
Alpizar's mother-in-law told CNN affiliate WKMG that he suffered from bipolar disorder.
Symptoms for the manic-depressive illness, during its manic stage, can include increased energy, activity and restlessness; extreme irritability; poor judgment; and provocative, intrusive, or aggressive behavior, according to the National Institute of Mental Health.
There are often periods of normal behavior between the manic and depressive stages, and the disorder can be stabilized with medication, the NIMH said.
Witnesses differ over hearing bomb threat
Accounts vary on whether Alpizar had announced he had a bomb.
Tirpak said he didn't hear Alpizar say anything.
Dave Adams, a spokesman for the Federal Air Marshal Service, said Alpizar had run up and down the plane's aisle yelling, "I have a bomb in my bag."
Adams said Alpizar fled the aircraft and marshals confronted him on the boarding bridge.
"They asked the gentleman, 'Drop your bag, drop your bag. Come to the ground. I'm a federal law enforcement officer. Police. Drop your bag,'" Adams told CNN.
"He failed to comply with their commands, continued approaching the air marshals claiming he had a bomb in his bag. And then they ordered him again down to the ground. He didn't."
The marshals fired two or three shots when Alpizar appeared to reach into his bag, Adams said.
"Based on their training they had to take the appropriate action to diffuse the situation to prevent a danger to themselves and also passengers in the terminal," Adams said.
One law enforcement source said the backpack had drawn attention, because Alpizar wore it over his chest, not his back.
It was the first time a federal air marshal fired a weapon at someone since the program was bolstered after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The agency said Alpizar was not on any terror watch lists.
The two marshals who fired at Alpizar were placed on administrative leave pending the investigation, the air marshal service said.
Both became federal air marshals in 2002, Adams said, and are based out of Miami. One was a border patrol agent for four years, the other was a customs inspector for two.
Marshals on plane
Gardner said that before the shooting, a fight broke out between the Alpizars. She said she was comforted after an airline pilot seated beside her said air marshals were on the plane and aware of the situation.
Gardner said the situation became more tense when the wife received a phone call on the plane.
"There was something going on that just was not right, and the pilot told me, he said ... 'Look, there's a marshal right there, they know what's going on. We're covered.'
"So we all felt fine, and then, of course, everything happened."
Alpizar ran off the plane clutching a bag, chased by a man in a Hawaiian shirt, passenger Mike Beshears told CNN. That man turned out to be one of the two air marshals.
Beshears said he did not hear Alpizar say anything. "He just was in a hurry and exited the plane," he said.
Alpizar's wife also followed him part of the way down the aisle, then returned to her seat saying, her husband was sick and she needed to get his bags, Beshears said.
"After she passed back toward her seat ... a number of shots rang out -- at least five, up to six, shots rang out. And I saw the flight attendants returning, running down first class toward coach, and we were all told, 'Get down, get down.'
"The gentleman's wife had made it back up," Beshears recalled. "And about the time she got to the row in which we were crouched, the flight attendant -- I have to commend her on the way she handled the situation -- she actually intercepted the lady and took her down in the aisle with myself and a guy."
Marshals entered the plane and ordered everyone to put their hands on their heads, while they searched it, Gardner said.
After the shooting, investigators took passengers' luggage off the plane, and an explosives team blew open Alpizar's luggage on the tarmac. A subsequent search of Alpizar's backpack and luggage aboard the aircraft turned up no sign of a bomb, Bauer said.
Neighbors recall Alpizar as the guy next door
Alpizar, a U.S. citizen, had boarded American Airlines Flight 924 in Miami to fly to Orlando, Florida. The 44-year-old Maitland, Florida, resident had just connected from a flight from Ecuador.
Neighbors and family described him as a nice guy and said the image that federal marshals painted of him was at odds with the man they knew. (Full story)
A neighbor, Janice Tweedie, called Alpizar "very friendly and helpful to people around the neighborhood ... a very pleasant person, he and his wife both."
"I've never seen any erratic behavior from him at all," Tweedie said.
Alpizar moved to the United States from Costa Rica in 1986 and worked for Home Depot, his brother-in-law, Steven Buechner, told CNN. He said that Alpizar and his wife had been in South America since the day after Thanksgiving to help out her uncle, a volunteer dentist.
Buechner said the couple had no children and that he was unaware of any mental health issues Alpizar may have had.

DETROIT - A church packed with 4,000 mourners celebrated the life of Rosa Parks Wednesday in an impassioned, song-filled funeral, with a crowd of notables giving thanks for the humble woman whose dignity and defiance helped transform a nation.

An American flag was unfolded onto the civil rights pioneer’s wooden coffin at the end of the service, which lasted more than seven hours.
The funeral, which stretched well past its three-hour scheduled time, followed a week of remembrances during which Parks’ coffin was brought from Detroit, where she died Oct. 24; to Montgomery, Ala., where she sparked the civil rights movement 50 years ago by refusing to give her bus seat to a white man; to Washington, where she became the first woman to lie in honor in the Capitol Rotunda.

Those in the audience held hands and sang the civil rights anthem “We Shall Overcome” as family members filed past her casket before it was closed.

Hi everybody, I am the dad and been given the task to update this blog. I hope I can live up to the kids' expectation.
Well first of all thanks for logging on and giving encouragement to them. They started school on Sep,05 .Avneet has been fine, but Amitoj was pretty sad for first couple of days . Shyama (mom) saw him on tue and wed . and he was ready to leave for good. But on thu. we got the news that he has been selected in school soccer team and scored two goals in a friendly match against another school ,so now he is the hero of the school and likes it.
Also Shyama is not going to see him for 4 weeks so he can get used to the system.
will keep you all posted

I am in the gate in the airport.Our plane is so big.It is A Boeing 777.Our boarding starts in about 13 or 20 minutes.I am again using the free internet.Well I have to go now.I will update this blog in India at thew Cyber Cafe.Well I guess I will update this in India.

Hi everybody.I am now in Singapore!The airport Is very nice here.I am on the free internet in the airport.My flight to india is in 6 hours.I am having a very good time at the airport.Well I will keep updating this blog.

Well its only 3 hours till our journey to India.I just washed my hair.I am going to miss it here.I'll miss riding my bike everywhere around my neighborhood.But i will have new friends in my school in India.It might be harder over there but I think I'll do good.I said good bye to 4 of my best friends that I ride bikes with and play with.I guess I will see them after 3 months.This might be the last time I am updating my blog.Or I might update it in Singapore Changi Airport.Singapore has free internet in the airport.If my cousins get internet then I'll do it there to.It seems like everythings going too fast.I just feel like staying here for one more day.But I still can't believe that we are going TODAY.Well If its My last time updating my blog, Sat Sri Akal, Namaste, Shalom, Adios, And Good Bye, but remember this may not be the last time I'm updating it. :)
